TurboXS HPBC
Hey guys,
I finally figured out why I was having boost taper at high RPM's with my turboxs HPBC!
When I bought it, I received free installation from "guru" (Dan at Godspeed motorsports) and apparently when he set the boost level while dynoing the car he had the "course" adjust (ball and spring setup) backed all the way out and only used the "fine" adjust (bleeder setup) to adjust my boost!
As most people experienced with DSM's know, the only bleeder worth a damn on a 4g63 is a solenoid type controlled electronically. I am betting it works differently with the WRX setup (what Dan is most used too) and that is why he set mine up this way.
With it set up this way, I was getting a full 3 lb taper with the turboxs. After closing off the fine adjust bleeder completely I adjusted the course level to get the boost I wanted. I now have a spike up to 21 psi that rapidly settles down to a rock steady 20 psi all the way to redline. Much better than 20 psi dropping down to 17 by redline. I wonder how much more HP I would have made on the dyno with 3 more psi of boost at redline?
As it was I made 269 HP and I am very happy with the treatment I received from Godspeed and the great job they did tuning my car. Now all I need is to install my cams, and re-dyno with the cams and full 3" Buschur Racing Exhaust

Thank you Keith. My downpipe is now available and should be on my website soon for you to take a look. Please feel free to stop in for retuning. I'll give you a special rate for my mistake. Usually I never set the base that high since most cars spike way too much for it to function well. We'll give her a whirl. I made 329 whp on another EVO on rave fuel Friday. That was with stock turbo. THat's exactly 100 whp over stock. Pretty remarkable.
