Fuel pump install questions?

I am putting in a new fuel pump and a couple of things went wrong. I broke 2 studs of the 6 on the black ring. Should i use vice grips and just pull them out? And the second things is the pins came out of my clip when i pulled the old pump out. Which way do they go back in?

yeah i saw this thread and there is one shot of the wires but not the clip. I assumed that they went straight down from that pic. I installed the pump and no power to it.
