New power new problem

Well a few weeks ago i got an Aem 2 ems installed on my car. I have a built 2.3 stroker hta 86 ect. My car put down around 520whp on pump it had alot more power left in it but i need a double pumper setup now. The first day after the tune i didn't get on it to much and car was driving fine.

Now the past couple days i have been getting on it in 3rd and 4th gear. Around 6500 rpm it start to break up pretty good. then some pulls it will pull clean in 3rd and start breaking up around 6000 to 6500 rpm in 4th. I was just wondering what the problem could be. I was thinking maby my plugs need to be gapped closer possibly.

Any idea's on what it could be would be very helpful. If i can't fix the problem i will end up bringing my car back to the tuner. thanks .

What is your current ignition setup? How old are the plugs and what is the current gap?

+1. Try new plugs, 2 heat ranges colder and gap them tighter. (0.22-0.24)

Im going to pull them and see what heat range they are and also the gap. I doubt it has anything to do with the tune since it should of broken up on the dyno also.

Who tuned it? Sometimes dyno vs real road driving makes a huge difference. The difference in load dynamics and wind resistance can cause a change in runs

Two issues, first one you answered yourself, you need a double pumper, and you have a stock ignition, you need to upgrade both your ignition and fuel system. Gap them .022.
What size injectors do you have?

its the gap most likely. you will probably go thru some plugs until you get an ignition. but change the gap to .022 for sure.

Ill get some new plugs tomorrow and gap them .022. Thanks for all the reply's ill let you know if it fixes the problem. If it new plugs and a .022 gap doesn't fix it then i will have to upgrade the ignition .

the injectors are 1000cc the tuner said the injectors are not limiting my power it's the fuel pump.

its odd though it starts breaking up around 6500 rpm i think the higher boost might be blowing out the spark. I would think it would show up when they were tuning it on the dyno. but who knows i guess ill throw new plugs in tomorrow with a tight gap and see what happens. if it still is breaking up ill call up the tuner and see what they think. most likely ill upgrade the ignition and throw in a double pumper i just hope the car breaking up isn't hurting the motor . It's a built 2.3 but still i don't want to have to rebuild it because of this crap .

1. Your plug gap is jacked up. Get them all the same, and all around .22-.24, blowing out spark will make you breakup.

2. Did you get tuned on a dynojet? Sounds like the more load you put on the car the worse the problem is (everything is ok in 3rd, but breaks up in 4th, etc). Dynojets (in my opinion) aren't for tuning, they don't load up a car properly. The normal dynojets without an upgrade have rollers equivelant to 2100lbs (2500lbs with the increased HP kit). I have a feeling that your car is about 3300lbs, so the loading will be completely different. On a dynapak, mustang, and most other dyno's the tuner can adjust the load and get a more realistic load on the engine resulting in a more accurate tune in real world conditions. Dynojets are really a measuring tool.
