My evo is the first manual I've driven and I have never ground gears in my almost 5 months of ownership. I was in traffic going to school, car in first gear, when I decided to 'gung ho' into the next lane. 5500rpm, shifted into 2nd, and all of a sudden, I hear and feel a nasty screech through my shifter. I wasn't even shifting fast or hard, knowing well that 2nd gear has always been sluggish with the shift, and I know it wasnt' driver error either. Now I've experienced this 2nd gear grind people have always talked about on this board .

 

Dont worry about it... Its just one time... worry if you do it everyday.

 

nothing wrong with a grind here or there just dont make it a everyday thing

 

happens to me at random times, went to the track and was driving the **** out of the car and no grind, then on the way home just an easy shift to second and griiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnndddd.

 

2nd gear is where I had my "gear grinds" also. Seems to be gone though now, hit 4K miles a couple days ago.

 

That's what I'm worried about. I never experienced it til 7k miles. I hope it's not starting to develop anything.

 

I grind mine at least once a day. Second gear sucks
