when to go with a 3.5" exhaust

Im having a hard time finding info on when to step up to a 3.5" exhaust.Any help would be great.

What sort of power are you making at the moment? It's going to be difficult going 3.5" all the way with the 02 housing. People are making 450+ on 3" aren't they?

unless im wrong most cars just use a 3" with a open dump

David Buschur tested a 3.5" exhaust, IIRC made well over 600whp on his dyno, and gained NOTHING. You don't read about them because they aren't needed...

IMO, you'd have to be making 800+ whp to need 3.5"...

If you're getting to the point where a 3.5" is justified, you may as well go with a side exit pipe as you'll be at a ridiculously excessive power level.
