I changed the transmission fluid yesterday but there was awfully a lot of oil residue or grease near the oil pan / transmission in particular the bottom of the case.

Anyhow I usually like to check the old fluids and I noticed this one small metal piece in the fluid. Usually it's just metal shavings but this time it was an actual piece of metal, not sure what part of the transmission its from but hopefully someone on the forum could give a little more insight on this?

The size of the piece is about: 8mm x 4mm x 2mm

Looks like it could be from a shift fork.

 

Yea I'm wondering if it's something crucial that broke off like if it's a part of a gear tooth or spline, only real way I could would be to take off the transmission and open it up, not something i want to do right now...

hard to tell what its from,but it looks like its time for a new transmission. shavings on the drain plug are ok,but chunks coming out are not. I had chunks of metal coming out of mine and i had to get a whole new one. Jacks gave me a list of what was messed up and it wasn't pretty lol.
