The BR272s are the cams David recommend for my build, I'm going with a 2.3 though which is handles agressive cams better so I think he picked them based on the agrssiveness and the fact that they will more then likly be streetable enough on a 2.3

so would you say the BR272's are a goo choice for a 2.3 and maybe not for a 2litre build?

I can tell you whatever you want but that doesnt mean you should listen to me lol.

I will tell you this, I currently run HKS 272's on my stock block with a slight lope but I have never felt any danger of stalling. Buschur said get the BR 272s based on my power goals and what I want.

Evo8LTW said they sacrifice some low speed drivability but Im willing to be that its not that big of a deal as long as you dont try and lug around a gear high.

Yeah I was just messing with you, unfortunately I've only had experience with the HKS 272's from what it sounds like the me the BR are more aggressive. Not sure where they fall in against some of the 280's, do I'd give your Buschur or AWDmotorsports a call and ask them what they think. Their advice is worth at least 20 people on the forums advice.

Buschur 272s -- FP Red, then FP Black

There was a big difference in power and lopiness with each of those cam swaps. I would not go any smaller than the Comp or HKS 280s, even on a daily driver. The Buschur cams compromise drivability in parking lots and very slow stop and go traffic, but are fine once you are moving and they hit their real stride above 6500 rpm. They don't like to be lugged under 1500 rpm though. If you want your car to run almost as smoothly as stock around town, then get 272s or smaller.

Also, I would suggest consulting with whomever is going to do your ECU tuning. Tuning an Evo with a really large set of cams requires more expertise than running something closer to stock.
hope some will heed your advice. sacrificing drivabilty sucks. cams that have to be idled in the 1000-1200 range suck if you ask me. its a race only cam by my definition. but I choose parts carefully as i like to maintain perfect drivabilty. I am going to use jun 264 with my htagreen 2.3 setup. great cam that has some how escaped all tests.

It also depends on the whole set up Id guess also. Since like i stated earlier cams affect 2.3 different then 2.0, Im not sure how much of a difference.

no its not that . THOSE ARE REALLY AGRESSIVE cams. Using it on stock block i was reading was not recommended i know you need upgraded springs to use them. As others have stated not really to good on Daily DD duty. money would be better served on

Fp 4prs
S2
Kelford 272

Now if this is a dedicated track star then BR 272 all the way.

Your in luck. When i was at jms racing they had a car for customer they just built name was Gared yellow evo in lift in my pics on my thread

Ported head
evo 8 turbo
Jms 2.3 shortblock
Bushwhacker tranny
BR 272
Bolt ons

It idled 1k or so nice now we did not punch it as he was breaking in the new motor but it drove fine for the mild speed that we were doing on test runs. Very aggressive idle i did not see the tune for it but vibration was not bad in the seat. Now it was a loud car with the cams whatever exhaust he had and the quatermaster squeeking. LOL not my ideal of a headache free ride. Good thing was a day later when he came back to the shop the quatermaster was quiet

Yeah I have no problems with a lope in the idle, or a 1k idle to keep it going. I actually like the sound of a lope.
