Lifter Tick. Lol

Ok so I installed cams and I was wondering how long it takes the lifters to fill back up with oil? Ive did the 3k rpm trick prolly 10 times, but it still doing it. Its quieter but still doing it. i bled everyone of those lil suckers till my finger tips wanted no more.

You bled them out of the head correct? Some people think you can bleed them in the head but it isn't getting all the oil out.

Mine got quiet right after the oil pressure pumped all the way up. How many miles on them? Maybe one or more is blown? Did you do the diesel fuel check mentioned in the FSM? I have stock lifters if you need a set and I have TTP (same as JAM) no tick lifters here. I'm off to bed since I have to be up at 0345 for work. PM me.

Sig material thank you. Did you refill them with diesel? The shop manual recommends you bleed them inside of 3 cans of diesel. this way you are not re-installing them dry.

No i didn't do anything with diesel fuel. And I we had the oil out of the car to swap the turbo. How likely is it that a lifter went bad after the cam install. They weren't ticking b4 that I noticed. The car has 50,000 miles. Still new. lol. We put Kelford 272 cams in.

No i did not touch diesel. And isn't the purpose of diesel just to clean them out? The lifters were perfect and every one of them were compressed. What percentage of ppl even use diesel on a cam install?

I didnt use any diesel and just bled out the oil. You really need to build up your oil pressure and the ticking should go away unless a lifter has gone bad. I remember when I first started up my car it sounded horrible but after some steady revs and what not the noise cleared up.

HAHA. I dont know. I just do my work by the book. The reason you are experience ticking, is because you put dry lifters back in. My buddy did the same thing, we uninstalled the cams, redid the lifters with the diesel, and they shutup. Another guy just waited. A long time.

Welp I finally went back out to the shop last night and just decided to drive the car around the block without going over 3 grand. Problem solved. So for some1 who searches this thread later i bled the lifters perfect and did 10 slow revs to 3 grand and then slowly let it back down to idle. Then i still had lifter knock. So I drove it around the block and when I got back she was purring like a kitten.

Thanks For Everyones Help!

I had this same experience. I could gently rev the car until the second coming of christ in the driveway and they wouldn't stop ticking. A few slow laps of the neighborhood and they stopped ticking within 5 minutes.
