Transfer case and rear diff metal filings

Finally got around to changing the gearbox, transfer case, and rear diff oils today. What alarmed me was that both the transfer case and rear diff had about half the amount of fluid they should have. I also found a large amount of filings on the magnetic drain plugs, I know it's normal to expect some filings and it's a bit hard to see in the pics but there is about 4mm of metallic sludge of both plugs. Is this a normal amount?

No transfer whine or other issues at this stage and the car only has 43,000kms and one track day that i know of but i'm guessing the diff oils have never been changed.

Thanks, thats a relief. Are the filings from normal wear and tear on the gears? There was virtually nothing on the gearbox plug.

that's a normal amount and especially if you had virtually nohting on the gearbox plug!!!! Chalk it up as a win and keep going!!!

^ what i meant was, are the fillings coming from the diff gears? The gearbox was fine. Did the ayc bath while i was there, level was good in there and so was the colour of what came out. Guess i'm ready for the new turbo to go on now
