03 Evo 8 - Overheating issue.

Pretty simple issue but I cant seem to find the cause of the problem.

Problem: While the car is on and just sitting its fine and wont heat up. BUT if you go for a drive and start building a little bit of boost the temperature starts to rise. If you turn the ac on while cruising it starts to rise but if you throw it in neutral and let it coast it will go back down.

Steps taken: Ive checked the radiator for bubbles, upgraded radiator fans, put a brand new oem thermostat and replaced both temperature sensors but the problem is still there so im stumped.

Any help very much appreciated.

did you check for Co2 in the coolant? how many miles are on the car and how modified is it?

sorry for suggesting it.

do you have access to a CO2 tester? hopefully it isn't the head gasket but it can make the car overheat when you are on the throttle.

I think this car is still on its original head gasket I just never thought the headgasket would cause it to heat up only under throttle. Theres no coolant in the oil or smoke or power loss.

that is just one of many symptoms of a blown head gasket. it all depends, head gaskets can do many things. but if you have 1000+* exhaust gas going into the coolant it can cause it to overheat when you are on the throttle. is there any milky crap around your oil cap?

not saying that is what it is, but just one more thing to check.

No problem. I appreciate the ideas thats why I posted this thread maybe you or someone else might think of something that I havent thought of. Nothing milky on the oil cap or dip stick. Looked over the whole engine bay and the only thing I found was a very small oil leak from the oil cooler.

well test it out before you pull the head off, the HG thing is just a guess.

check all the little stuff like the belts and stuff too. i don't want you to rip the head off the car and think i am an a-hole for suggesting it.
