blown headgasket?

Tonight during some spirited heavyfoot driving, my temp shot up. After shutting down, checking the overflow... it was FULL. Didnt look milky, and neither does my oil.

I let the car cool for a while, drove home gingerly, but tested it a few times. Every time I boost it, temp goes up.

Car is an 8, with 9 turbo, cams, bolt ons, 26 psi, 360 ish awhp.

Has full Koyo rad, and I have never ever had the temp needle move on my before.

Headgasket?

Ok, gonna do further investigation today. Another point... Idle was hunting between 800-1100 after, wouldnt settle down. I assume this is another sign of a headgasket problem and the ecu dealing with the heat.

Edit - now that its light out, double checked some things.

Oil - normal
Coolant resevoir - normal
Coolant in radiator - tiny specs of stuff floating, miniscule and doesnt look "oily" (full flush with rad install april.)
Plugs - fine
Compression - 151-150-146-150

Car idles perfect today....

thats what im starting to think now too.... just weird that it decided to act up right when i was being a dink with the car.

that should be an easy enough try to fix. i assume there are lower temp t-stats available.

Unfortunately those were the first signs when I blew my headgasket on my Talon AWD. My compression readings were pretty much even all the way across. The symptoms only became worse with time. I would also check the thermostat first just to be on the safe side.

You might want to have the head checked for warpage too. Also take a straight edge to the deck of the block, extreme HG failures CAN damage the block. More than likely your block is ok, heads are usually "iffy" after a head gasket failure.

forgot to mention, took the rad cap off when it was hot. didnt pssssshhhhh like usual. seemed to be lack of pressure.....

im leaning more towards blockage, most likely at Tstat but I am having trouble finding one in Canada.

Any idea what thermostat that ours crosses over to? I read somewhere v6 eclipse 3.0??

You'll know within the next couple of days if the thermostat was the culprit. Did your old thermostat look deteriorated? Was it physically stuck shut? Good luck again, hope this was just the problem.
