Rebuild kit for Exedy carbon twinplate?

Hi all

I have the above clutch which is poked and I wanted to rebuild it as a non carbon clutch.. Can anyone tell me if its possible to do the switch??

buy something like this

http://www.awdmotorsports.com/index....mart&Itemid=29

OR

http://www.turbowholesale.com/produc...roductid=15143

I have been told I need a new floater plate to.

I have tried contacting my local exedy dealer (in new zealand) and they have no freakin clue that exedy did rebuild kits for anything....

That ring welded on the pp02??? I didn't think you could turn that plate. And how do you intend on re fastening the springs on the middle plate?

They aren't needed for the clutch to function, it's mainly for reducing chatter

Was the plate manufactured like that? I've never seen one like this. I thought it may be for resurfacing purposes.

no, it was modified to shift the pivot point and increase clamping pressure.
the clamping pressure was moved from 2400lbs to ~3900lbs.
this allows for higher torque holding without the need for high friction clutch material. So it still is easy to slip, and you wont destroy your pressure plates.

How did you calculate the tollerances to know the height and thickness of the ring? Also did you have it balanced?

i didn't, it was modified by a clutch reconditioning shop.
They have done this modification many many times.
it's already been proved on a 420+kwatw (560whp 1.0cf) Mazda GTX (with evo running gear and engine)
Yes it was balanced, along with my crank and crank pulley etc. Full rotating assembly.
