HKS Twin Plate Problem!

Well I go to start my car today and it starts just fine. I attempt to put it in gear and it wont go in gear. The clutch peddle feels very wobbley/shakey as well when I press it in. I check out the slave cylinder and fluid which both turn out to be fine. So now I'm wondering what can be wrong. Has anyone experinced this before? I was able to get it in gear and drive it around so it's not the clutch slipping but maybe something broke? clutch fork bent? any ideas people? I would appreciate the help.

Thanks,

bryan

Sounds like the throwout bearing and pressure plate issue. I think purposely set loose tolerence on the throw out bearing and pressure plate. They are conected by a ring and groove.

Did you have your throwout bearing changed when replacing your clutch? Was the ring seat properly? If not the throw out bearing will pop out of the pressure plate causing the clutch to fail and the clutch pedal to stick. When that happens just be sure that you get a flat bed to tow your car.

I'm assuming the throw out bearing and pressure plate is connected the same way as stock.

I agree. Sounds like the throwout bearing is disconnected.
It doesn't disengage the clutch right?

Not the first time and probably not the last. Most think that if you try to clutch too fast you can pull it off.

I guess it's time to pull it apart again? Is this a common occurance with twin plate clutches?

Ok, I was able to correct the problem. When I had first looked at the brake reserve it appeared not be low but when I looked again it was a little low but not below the "low" mark. So I added some brake fluid and it went back to shifting just fine. I'll be bleeding it later today. So if anyone else experinces this....

The HKS clutch's throwout bearing to pressure plate connection is completely different from stock. Once it is locked in, it wont come apart unless there is a very very serious failure. The throwout bearing locks into a socket, that fits in the pressure plate, with a c-clip. You have to pull the the fork rod out to release the fork, instead of the throwout bearing when you disassemble it. Bottom line .... HKS = no failing clips!
