Horrible Idle...

OK so recently, I've just been idling like absolute crap. Idle is currently set at 800rpm and anytime I come to a stop, it dips down to 400-500 (low oil pressure and just wants to die). It'll just sit there for a while before the car kicks back up and then it might drop back down again and possibly die or it might stabilize the idle. This problem seems to have just suddenly come about because I had the same tune before and it was idling just fine.

So symptoms in a nutshell:

400-500 idle...sometimes dies (especially on cold starts, then it REALLY wants to die)
Extremely lean AFRs (20.5+:1)
Low oil pressure from the terribly low idle
Car eventually fixes the idle if I sit there for up to two minutes

Mods that might matter:

Cosworth M3 cams
Walbro 255
Stock injectors
AMS fuel rail

Again, I was fine on this tune for a while and then it just went to ****.

Any help at all is appreciated...I'm tired of having to feather my gas pedal at red lights.

EDIT: I haven't checked for codes yet because my CEL is always on so I'll probably do that if needed unless someone knows the problem off-hand.

EDIT x2: And when I punch it, it doesn't feel like there is any loss of power compared to normal. Hope I've narrowed it down enough haha.

Raising the idle might help. You said the tune was the same before and after the problem started, but have any mods changed since the problem started?

I was having a similar issue and found that my egr hose was off. Check over all the lines around the engine, who knows, that might be it.

Raised the idle to 950 and it's still doing it...only mod that has changed is a Cusco suspension brace.

Friend is saying that it could be a boost leak...any thoughts?

Thanks guys...

Check your egr valve like someone else already suggested... I had a vacuum line come off on me before.

Did your vacuum on your boost gauge change? Since this was not always the issue, raising the rpm is only trying to mask the real problem.

yes egr hose check and if not, im sorry if i didn't read this, retard the mivec in the idle cruise. also check and adjust your BISS screw on the TB. turn it counter clockwise to raise your idle to help it catch. do it a small amount at a time to keep the car from revving to high at idle.

i would say do the basics first: boost leak test, check your vacuum pressure, check your spark plugs etc. All the basics then go from there. if your mods havent changed, then something is def wrong and or has changed. check the egr like others have said, maybe a line popped off or is leaking.

like someone else said, raising your idle may only mask the problem, especially if doing so already hasnt helped. gl and keep us posted. gl

does your oil light flicker on and off as your idle stumbles? could be the oil pressure sender.

He stated that his current tune was already done with the cams and his idle was fine. It's a new problem that occured when nothing has changed to the car.

No the light comes on momentarily when the idle is low enough.

You're saying it's not road worthy? The AFRs are 20:1 at idle is not the same as 20:1 under load. WOT nets 11.5-12:1 AFRs. There is no CEL. If it was MAF, I wouldn't be getting it past much of 4k RPM.

Thanks but I'm not that crazy...
