need help with waistgate

Im fixing to buy a bigger turbo and an external waistgate, should I have the WG recirculate or open dump, a friend told me I would get more power from running it open dump, is this true cause the only reason I didnt want to do the open dump is because a guy I know almost came off a dyno cause the dump burned through the straps. thanks guy

Wastegate > waistgate. Open dumps help with more power and do a better job controlling boost creep but at the cost of noise.

If you're "fixing" to get a bigger, non-stock frame turbo, open dump is the way to go. Re-circing correctly (at least 18" from the turbo) is a pain to to do and not worth it.
