2.5" downpipes ready to go...........

Hi all,

Well I finished up the 2.5" downpipes last night. They came out SUPER nice. These downpipes will require NO spacers or special parts to install them. I am really shocked at how well I got everything to work together and fit. I must have been on a roll.

The downpipe uses a 3/8" 304 laser cut stainless steel flange on each end. The tubing itself is our lightweight 304 mandrel bent stainless. The complete downpipe with flanges, tubing and hangers comes in at a super light weight 6.5#'s. The stock downpipe weighs in at 11.5 pounds, a 5 pound savings. This downpipe bolts to the stock 02 housing and the stock cat.

We built these to go with our Economy Stage Package. This is the package we are offering for only $995 that will put your EVO8 into the 12's.

The downpipes are going to go for only $225. They are instock and ready to ship.

Why use the 2.5 instead of the 3 inch? (I know this has been asked before).

Also when is the turbo and manifold kit gonna be ready?

We are working on pictures now.

Why use the 2.5"?

The 2.5" downpipe was built for guys that were looking to:
1. Build their EVO on a budget.
2. Were leasing the car and didn't want to dump a fortune in it.
3. Wanted a quiet easy bolt on upgrade.
4. To add to our Economy 12 second kit.

The 2.5" allows you to maintain the stock cat or bolt in an offroad pipe. It also keeps the decent stock cat back pipe. The worst part of the EVO cat back, other than the muffler, is the two resonators in it. This does make for a very quiet system. It also means using the super light weight high flowing muffler delete pipe will still keep the car quiet.

The 2.5" downpipe just makes sense for a lot of guys on a budget. Getting rid of the muffler and the downpipe free up quite a few HP. Adding the complete Economy kit to this makes for a very cheap 12 second EVO.

What kind of power difference is there between the 3" and the 2.5"?

Any Dyno numbers?

I take it the smaller diameter piping will clear the lower cross bar, without the usual spacers, Dave and crew at Buschurs are always one step ahead of the game. Way to go on offering the best bang for the buck with your R&D........Good luck, Rick from New York. PS wanna finish them dang turbo kits brother, theres too much smack talk goin round and we need to go v8 hunting again...............GOD BLESS Y'ALL

I would love to know if you can fit a 3" on the stock cat back...and I agree with the dyno comparison.

There isn't a good way for us to compare the power differences with the 2.5" vs. the 3". The reason is running a 3" downpipe into a 2.5" cat will make less HP than running a good 2.5" downpipe into a 2.5" cat. The 3" is designed to run a 3" the entire way to the back. The 2.5" will allow you to use the stock cat, high flow cat or a bolt in offroad pipe. It will also allow you to bolt it to our flanged 3" catback or anyone else's for that matter. It is an upgrade step for a guy that isn't trying to go 10's or make 600 whp.

Rick, you'll be the first one I call when I get these manifolds! haha

HMMM

I am probably missing somwthing but how come the ECO package makes 275-300 whp and the stage 1 with the exact same equipment but bumping the piping up to 3 inch on makes around 260 whp?

My interpretation is that the "stock turbo" suffers greater psi loss with a larger diameter exhaust (or) the Stg 1 dyno is incorrect and http://www.buschurracing.com/EVO_Stage2.html is more reflective of the hp potential.

So dave, if I want to keep the stock cat, it makes more sense for me to go with the 2.5" dp? Also, what are your thoughts on flex couplings for the downpipe, most of the other vendors have them on their dp's but you do not... I'm sure you have a good reason so I'd like to hear it.

Thanks again,

Question

Dave,

Would your 3’ DP bolt right up to my Perrin 3’ cat-delete? (I assume it would… but figure I’ll ask to be certain.)

TIA,
Jason
