Clicking/Ticking sound from TC's tailside
Hello everyone. after reviewing almost every post related to my problem, i still did not find an answer.
I have a 6-spd 2006 Evo 9 (JDM) with 65,000 km (around 40k miles). the car puts down around 350hp with basic bolt ons and light tune.
I had to replace the 6th gear syncro key/spring 5,000 km ago (6th gear was not engaging properly) and at the same time i've replaced the flywheel and clutch and done an all-fluid change (engine, TC, gearbox, rear diff... etc)
My problem is detailed in the following:
I started getting a small high pitched ticking/clicking noise from under the front end of the car 2 weeks ago. the sound came every time i decelerate. Now it got worse, i hear it while accelerating and decelerating and it's speed dependant.. i.e. the ticking/clicking becomes faster as i accelerate and goes slower as i decelerate (even when rolling while the gear is in neutral). the noise does not change when turning right or left or when pressing down on the clutch but it completely goes away when the car comes to a stop.
To find out the source of the ticking/clicking sound, i ran the car while on stands. the noise was clearly coming from the tail end of the transfer case (where the drive shaft connects to it). it sounded like the drive shaft is rubbing against something in the transfer case (maybe the shield).
Does this mean that my transfer case is going bad?
Today I’m doing an oil change for the TC and see if it works, should I be looking for something in specific when doing so?
Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Nope ... the noise in your video is gargling or knocking (grrrr grr grrr... or ... krr krrr krrr)
mine is more like constant ticking (tick... tick... tick...) and the frequency is dependant on speed, it is not as LOUD as urs. i can only hear it clearly when my windows are down.

Update!!
Here's an update:
Ok .... Now after a number of unsuccessful attempts to record the ticking sound, a warning from a fat policeman, and 3 road kills... i decided to give up trying ..
after abusing the car, it basically started to get normal :S... the ticking is still there but it's now noticeably lower... i really don’t know why... maybe the intense humidity today (it might lubricated the rubbing point) ... or maybe i am just unlucky...
still need some feedback...
Thanks in advance (btw the road kill part is just a joke - no animals or humans were harmed during the attempts of recording that damn sound)
