Oil Temperature and sender placement

I just wanted to post about oil temperature and sender locations. I am very careful about oil pressure and temperature and when I switched from the OEM (MR) setup to installing a VDO setup I noticed my oil temperatures increased ~20 - 30 degrees. Part of the installation had me install a sending unit / sensor in the oil filter housing. I have since installed the FP oil line and purchased a VDO sensor that works as our drain plug. Net results, oil temperatures dropped down ~20 - 30 degrees - back like stock.

Interesting that the oil in the pan is so much cooler than oil going through the oil filter housing ~ 20 - 30 degrees cooler in the pan....

Oil temperature coming from oil filter housing ~ 210 - 230 degrees

Oil temperature coming from pan ~190 - 200 degrees

FWIW, I don't like to drive the car hard until I reach an oil temperature of ~180 degrees.

since I've installed mine at the housing I have never seen temps reaching over 210 and that's on a 95 degree day
