Perrin Intake w/ 84mm turbo housing

Can I use my existing Perrin Intake if I upgrade to an HTA Green 84mm housing? Will it fit? If not do I have to use the FP Intake?

Trying to weigh all the costs of upgrading the HTA Green or BBKB...

The Perrin and Samco won't work with work with the 84mm FP turbos. Either get the FP silicone tube or you'll have to get someone to make you a custom intake pipe (PPI builds one) along with silicone reducer (3.25" -> 3.5").

My bad...You are correct...I am using a hard pipe with the 3 to 3.25" coupler...(sorry for the misread)

it depends on what intake pipe u use...i dont think u mentioned it. if u have a hard pipe u can just get a new coupler, but if u use a silicone hose that slips on the inlet..new intake for u in the future.

How did you get the filter to fit with the injen pipe? I want to run the amsoil filter but it will hit the acd res. with the injen pipe. I may just get the Fp pipe but dont want to spend the extra money if I'll still have fitment issues...

The Perrin intake is silicone, so you won't be able to use a silicone connector. You'll either need a metal intake with a reducer coupler, or the FP Intake. You can always sell your intake to get some of the money back though.

Yeah, it is the silicone pipe that came with the Perrin Intake so I guess I do need a new intake. Thats true I could just sell my Perrin. Thanks guys!

LOL no its not. How the hell are you going to put a silicone coupler on silicone tube? The PERRIN intake is silicone not a hard pipe.

You should edit your post.

Ughhh my BAD, very sorry....I have the Perrin filter w/ a hard pipe with the FP coupler.

Your advice is indeed correct, the OP will need to get either the FP intake or a hard pipe and appropriate coupler.

Sorry

Exactly which hard pipe are you using cij? Do you have a pic of your intake system? I am having a hard time visualizing it.

Does the Perrin filter come with a silicone coupler which reduces down to the diameter of the MAF? Then after the MAF is there another silicone coupler that goes from the MAF's exit diameter up to the diameter of the hard pipe itself? And then finally do you use a silicone reducer to go from the diameter of the hardpipe down to the diameter of the compressor housing inlet?

I am asking just cause I think that I'd like to copy your inlet combination onto my setup, although I have the small, old styled Red compressor inlet. And you have the 84mm comp housing...so I would definitely need to use a different coupler than that which you use. If this is too OT then just send me a PM cij.

Cij sorry if I came off mean, it's only because I went through the exact same issues as the OP when moving up to an FP turbo (I was using the Samco silicone boost tube, but Perrin is pretty similar).

EvolutinIX - you can trim some material away from the FP/Samco/Perrin silicone boost tube such that the filter of your choosing will not hit the ACD res. I trimmed prolly .5" off the Samco boost tube and it worked fine.

Cool thanks for the input, are you running the Fp intake pipe? If so what filter are you using?

Currently with the FP Black turbo (84mm/3.25") I'm using a custom PPI 3.5" aluminum pipe and the Amsoil 7" air filter EaAU3570. It clears the ACD because you can simply push the filter a little furthur down on the hard intake pipe, but I'm also on speed density so I don't have to worry about the MAF.
