I have HKS 272's on my car. With them made over 400/400 on a dynojet at 26psi on my stock 9.8 turbo. Pretty happy with the results, but I have plans to upgrade turbos and do a full t3 kit so will eventually go to the s2's. If I was just doing it once I'd go the GSC route.

kelford 272 due quite well with stock turbo 8/9. no loss in spoolup, and more power uptop. Kelfords are known to cause excessive valvetrain noise and create phantom knock though.. keep that in mind when tuning with them

listen I have an 04 evo VIII with the original 8 hotside turbo kelford 272's and 80k on the clock and the kelfords really pick up the power and feel awesome on the stocker....It keeps pulling at that high rpm instead of falling on its face....Mine pulled all the way up to over 180 mph (thats what my buddy in the CTS-V said we were doing at the end)

I have spoken with several reputable tuners, and their answers are all radically different. Here are their suggestions: HKS 272's, Kelford 272's, GSC S1's, and AWD Motorsports 272. That being said I have decided to hear what my fellow enthusiast opinions are...

I have a evo 9 with kelford 272 with my 1st tune and stock turbo i put 364hp but i guarenttee with a 50/50 water meth 400hp is achievable on a stock turbo, stock turbo, little lag = alot of serious quick power

I heard from one of the tuners I've been in contact with that Kelfords have been known to break, although I haven't seen any info to support that on here. I have also heard of the run of GSC that broke.

It is a tough decision for me as I don't want to be disappointed with a weak mild camshaft, on the other hand saving some money by sticking with stock valve springs allows me to buy other mods such as ported manifold and o2 housing, which will continue to support my stock turbo as well as future mods.

yeah Kelford 272/272 and GSC 2 are my two favorites and it's tough to choose one

even on the dyno test chart, they look almost the same... be or not to be

I thought this debate had been settled for the most part a while back. FP4R's if you don't want to do springs and GSC S2's if you do springs. Even with the S'2s it's only a recommendation that you upgrade the springs. With all the threads and discussions in the dyno section using the above mentioned cams the information is there and proven that they don't lose any noticeable spool or power down low. Just gains.

You should really look into the S2s, not Kelford. But hey, people are going to do what they want.

Any reason S2's over Kelford's?

In the AMS cam test the Kelford's really shined.

STM also made good power on Shawna's car with the Kelford's.

That's why I was looking at the Kelford's.

What about Buschur 272s? Thought those are suppose to be one of the best cams out...

BlkcarbonEVO, how do you know the GSCs are the best? Sounds like you had to have tested all of them out there to come up with that conclusion.

That said, look at the specs on the FP4R and the GSC S2s. Damn near identical on the cam cards... I'd be surprised if they made any different power.

It seems that a whole bunch of people would recommend Kelford's regardless of turbo! Is this the general consensus?

FP4R's! I'm on the stock turbo, ARP Headstuds, Buschur IC + LICP, Walbro 255, Intake, TBE, tuned on 93 octane by Derek at AWD Motorsports. I made considerably more power when compared to the large amount of dyno sheets/reviews of similar set ups with different cams.

I will say I lost a little bottom end and the idle could be rough for some individuals taste, but overall I am extremely happy with the FP4R's.

What did you make for power? What boost level?
