Do a leak down test, it'll tell you more about what's going on...

In a compression test, you want the numbers to be reasonably close to each other so yours are, within reason, similar enough that I would not be concerned.

As for the leak down test, read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leak-down_tester

You essentially pressurize the cylinder and see how much/from where its leaking. It can tell you if you have problems with intake valves, exhaust valves, cylinder rings, etc.

1 bar is 14.5psi I wouldnt be concerned.

Your results translate to-

#1- 174
#2- 174
#3- 160
#4- 174

That amount of variation can be because of several possibilities unrelated to failure of components. If it were down around 8 or 9 bar I would be concerned.

2006 Evo IX. My numbers today were 135,145,145,145. It looks like these are lower than other cars but there is a similar disparity in numbers. What is your take on that?

99% sure the IX's compression numbers are lower than the VIII's. If you search a bit, you'll find out your numbers are likely normal.
