Anyway the person I talked with said that they broke a crank pulled the motor and never took the head off and tossed a new crank in. After the conversation had me thinking maybe they put a 2.0 crank in would would kill the compression if it was ment to be a 2.3.

If I feel like I have flooded a motor out I will undo the injectors and pour about a table spoon worth of oil in each hole and Crank on it for a little while with the plugs out. Also new plugs are key. Once plugs are real wet even when dry and clean they will not be right. Its amazing the amount of time I have seen people spend trying to make car start and it was only a fresh set of plugs away.

Plugs did wonders for me last week lucas..Good post.

I still have an extra set of plugs. Just using the using the wet ones until I get the compression figured out.

Thanks to everyone for their input so far

Never heard of this before, never had to do anything out of the ordinary to do a compression test on the Evo or any other car.

Obvious timing belt problem is obvious.

How is this? Everything is in time. I'll take pics to rule this out.

Sounds like bent valves. Once you have ruled everything external of the engine out, Pull the head and have it checked. Also make sure the pistons are getting to TDC to make sure the crank is the correct one (I'm sure you did this but just wanted to throw that out). Sounds like bent valves to me.

If the leak down test shows anything leaking past the valves, I will pull the head. But as I said in the 1st post, the valves and seals are new and I did lap each valve to it's port, ran some gas through the ports and none leaked.

Results of the Leak Down Test??? Because I agree with "TheMadScientist" it most definitely sounds like bent valves. But can't speculate until you complete that leak down test. None the less GL with this motor builds that have frustrating issues like this take a toll on you stress wise been there done that.

Not sure why you're worried about fuel or spark when the culprit is clearly an issue with compression.

If you're not getting ANY compression you're timed incorrectly or you're having valvetrain issues. That's assuming the motor was built correctly.

Fresh motors won't give you 160-170psi off the bat but they'll sure as hell beat 0 psi without gobs of oil in the cylinders.

I got a leak down tester but before I went any further with that, I decided to degree the cams as I've read about issues with Revolver cams. The head and block were decked so I expected the numbers to be off anyway. Here's the readings I got.

Would the intake cam being that much off keep the car from starting?
