How much time to repair steering wheel being off?

Hey guys I purchased a car with the engine taken out. Problem is when they put the rack back in they didnt line up the steering wheel on the inside of the car before it was bolted back together. Car was sent to a different shop and didnt notice the steering being off until the new motor was installed. My question is how much labor should be involved in lining up the connection under the hood now that the motor is in? Thanks again for all the help.

If it is off a little just reset the toe. Otherwise, there is a clamp, on the inside, right at the firewall where you can pull the column apart and move it a spline or as required.

The second option would be a lot more work. Plus the clamp almost requires two people, one to position the column and one to work the clamp. The service manual warns not to release the tilt mechanism anytime the steering column is unbolted from the dash.

Right they told me there is a clock spring inside the wheel and if that gets screwed up it can set off the airbag. Luckly the wheel was never spun while unhooked. They are trying to get me for like 3 hours to unbolt it line it up and bolt it up again. I think they are a little high on that.

If they are including an alignment in that (which they need to do) 3 hours doesn't sound crazy.

Well unfortunately the clock spring was broken and had to be replaced. They replaced that and lined it back up for 2 hours labor. I am happy with that.

Hei guys

I had to remove the steering column near the pedals area when I had to change my transfer case. Kinda accidentally spun the steering wheel when it wasn't connected. So clock spring is screwed. I have align back the steering angle at the tire shop. Car now stills feels weird, it pulls left or right as it wishes. When I'm taking a left corner I can feel the car wants to do the opposite .
OK what I've done so far that seems to help a bit are
1. Change steering fluid.
2. Alignment
3. Change all 4 tires.
4. I prob have to.double.check my alignment again

One thing that bugs me, do I need to reset the steering angle sensor in the ecu? I'm worried the ayc is reading something else even.though the car is goin straight.

Also I had the bump steer kit installed. I'm sure it suppose to help wit handling rather than making it erratic.

Any comment guys?? Especially on the steering angle sensor thingy?
