o2 sensor won't fit Megan o2 housing

Just what it says. I don't know if the threads are different or what the problem is. I just got the o2 housing using from a forum member and everything worked well for him. Do I need a different o2 sensor? HELP!!! I need this installed fast.

Sounds like your threads are messed up on the sensor or the bung on the 02 housing...Maybe clean all the threads with some brake clean on both and then make sure to put a bunch of anti-seize on the threads??

Was it a ported 02 housing by chance? I bought a ported megan 02 that hadnt been installed yet and I saw that the port job on it left some material in the way of where the 02 would squeeze through in the hole. I cleaned and filed off the inside of it and hope that is good enough whenever I get a chance to install it.

I'd run a thread chaser through just for good measure also.

Yep, probably just rough threads. Spray brake cleen and then run thread chaser. Also use WD40 with a thread chaser if its very rough and go slow. Try that and report back!

06MR and LancerEvo, that's exactly how I ended up making it work. While I was waiting for replies I figured I might have to retap the the threads so I wanted to clean the crap out of the threads. Brake Clean and Sea Foam got the threads super clean and just to check, I tried the o2 sensor again and sure enough..... thanks for the replies. I tried searching before but got no where. Atleast now if someone else has the same problem, they'll find this thread.

I don't know about that. I've heard some great things about the megan o2 housing. Biggest thing I hear about isn't leak but creep. They are good pieces but most people will say to have it ported to make sure there are no boost creep issues

you can buy it from a place like MAP and have them port it for you. Or you can take it to a local shop and have them do it. it really depends on your overall exhaust and what turbo you are running whether or not you get bad boost creep. also a good tune

I see, I order the megan, and found out that it can cause boost creep. Now I need to find a local place to get it port. I'm going to install it to stock evo 8 with 3" tanabe downpipe by the way.

Make sure you use a generous amount of high-temp anti-sieze on you O2!

There are a lot of people that don't port theirs and have no issues.

Some people say the hole where the wastegate air mixes with the main exhaust flow is not large enough to flow all the wastegate air, causing boost pressure to keep increasing with RPM.

I ported the opening for the wastegate myself with a long-shanked burr bit on a die grinder just to be safe.
