Axle problems!
Axle problems!
I launched my car pretty hard last night. I noticed on the way home that when I was going into a curve the car felt funny. Like it didn't want to hold the curve. Then when I slowed down and turned the wheel hard left or right I would here a really loud popping noise. I jacked the car up and there was grease everywhere on the front left axle boot. I am guessing this means I need to upgrade my axles. If anyone has had any similar issues I would love to know what the best thing to do next would be. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Okay, so I replaced the front left axle and the car is still making a popping noise with sharp turns. I've been reading up on differential problems. So I jacked up the front of the car and put it in 1st gear. I grabbed the passenger side wheel and began to turn it. The drivers side wheel rotated the opposite way about 3 inches and then it stopped dead. I got a lot of binding when moving the wheel back and forth. According to what I've read, this means the front differential is going bad, and this would be why I hear the popping. Does anyone else have any input? Just wondering if I'm going to need a t-case rebuild or what?
