i am in process of ordering intercooler kit for my evo ... so far i wanted race intercooler for my car

i think ams race intercooler is discontinued by ams got to know by eric gaudi ...

now only option i have is ets intercooler

just want big intercooler 4inch or 5 inch il be running gt35r after that gt37r hta series with some nitrous

so what i need a 4"core or 5" core

feedback is appreciated

 

How much power?

 

ETS intercoolers are great and you definitely would be satisfied. I am running there 3.5in intercooler and loving it, so i could only imagine there 4 or 5in performs just as well.

 

I'm rockn the AMS with cast end tanks. Really nice. Cold side stays cool at 30psi in hot Fla weather.

But then again I'm a huge fan of ETS, ran their IC kit on my talon.

 

If you can afford the AMS go with it. Sorry ETS but those cast end tanks on the AMS unit has upped them a notch compared to the competitors.

 

As was just stated the AMS is the way to go if you can afford it. Not knocking the ETS though, they are really good to.

 

ets 4" here. its built like a brick and the welds cant be beat. black anodized too.

 

Why so? Please elaborate. So, AMS uses cast aluminum tanks. There are other factors involved besides the tanks, right? How much power is there in the AMS endtanks, anyway?

ETS has recently redesigned their IC cores. In your opinion is endtank design more important than core design and heat exchange efficiency when comparing intercoolers?

Quality doesn't come cheap. The cast endtanks AMS uses isn't cheap to produce. The welds are top notch. I've had ETS, swapped it for a JMF. Prolly would have done the AMS also. Only downside is the weight of the AMS and JMF. ETS weights significantly less. I'm not all that impressed with the ETS cores, but thats just my opinion.

 

there is no advantage to cast endtanks unless you need an intricate design. evo intercoolers arent an intricate design.

 

This is probably THE MOST asked question on Evo M that doesn't ever get a proper reply.

 

thats the problem, there are quite a few great intercoolers out there and a lot of "opinion" on whats the best. post#2 is about the most helpful though. it really depends on the power goal. buschur, cbrd, ams, ets and a couple others all make great intercoolers, some just work better for different applications and power levels.

Here's mine...

Buy an OBX ebay intercooler! It's 3.5" thick, has a great looking core, and is less than half the price of the ETS. BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK!

 

I had an AMS cast end tank intercooler. I ended up getting rid of it for an ETS 3.8" Garrett core intercooler and haven't looked back.
