So your saying you think there may be too much preload and to try loostening it a half turn at a time or is there a specific tightness to look for

If the preload is too high, , what is happening is at 20# the WG isn't fully open enough to balance turbine pressure, creep will occur until the pressure seen by the WG forces it open enough to stop boost build.

However, if the WG IS fully open at 20# then the creep is caused by the WG actual inability to vent the exhaust gases fast enough. Thus the creep occurs until exhaust backpressure halts it.

So if u adjust the MBC for a higher boost (22#) and the creep still tops out at 24# the cause is the WG preload. Thus you can adjust the mbc to 24# and all is well.

If the mbc is set for 22# and the creep is now to 25+# the problem is WG flow, and porting or notching the flapper lingage as prev. mantioned can sort it out. An ext. WG will also sort it out.

when i turned my controller all the way off on my car with fp black with 25psi WGA preloaded for 30psi it hit its 25psi down low then creeped to 29psi by 6000rpm or so..

now right after that pull i turned the controller about 3-4 turns and the creep went away. the boost hit its target then tappered off like it normally does on a mbc.

good explanations Mosaic

i have a 18psi wga i turned the controller up 2 full 360degree turns and still hits 20psi only !!!

im guessing my controller is bad ? bc i had an issue wit a alternator busting my battery and my controller is mounted up right next to the battery tie down support so im guessing battery acid got into the controller and fudged up the oring in the controller ??

Did you turn up the boost controller slowly as recommended? Have you attempted to switch out boost controllers or allow it to run off wastegate to see how it responds?

Is your turbo fitted with the FP 18 PSI, or the FP 25 PSI actuator? At any rate, turn your Hallman boost controller all the way out counterclockwise to full soft(lowest possible boost setting). Do a test run in 4th, or 5th, and then let us know what your peak boost level is with the Hallman at its lowest possible setting. Or if you've already tried this then post up the boost level.

take some pretension off the wastegate actuator.. or now turn the controller 2 full turns and i bet the creep goes away.
