Can Evo 4 5 6 Use 6.5 TME Center Differential???

Hi Guys,
can an Evo 4 5 6 Use 6.5 TME Center Differential???

My friend Evo 6 got weird sound while making turn after swapping a TME center diff.

At first he thought is the driveshaft problem but after replacing the driveshafts the sound still persist.

Transfer boxes on the IV to VI are the same fitment except some LSD/Non-LSD. Do you get a knocking noise on righthand lock by any chance?

Hi, its a transfer box and yes it does has a knock sound whenever it turn left or right...

Lastly, does a Evo 7 8 9 transfer box fit Evo 4 5 6?

Could well be the diff bolts if the transfer box is knocking on lock, common problem on the early cars, but a very easy fix with some new 12.9 grade bolts.
Can't answer for the early USDM VIII non-ACD transfer boxes, but none of the VII> ACD ones would be compatable.

Grayw, are those the bolts that hold the torsen gear together?
Do they back themselves out?
I've got knocking to the right only also in my car (evo 5 gearbox, evo6 LSD transfer), it almost sounds like a CV but less clicky.

Cheers, Mike

Yes they either shear or come loose. Find an open car park and put on full righthand lock, drive in a circle slowly and you should hear it clonk. If it's the diff bolts, get someone to watch the wheel driven by the driveshaft that goes into the transfer case, you can normally see the movement in the wheel back and forth.

You can modify a Wavetrac diff to fit it a 6 transfer box though as I've just had it done.

What did you do about the crown wheel & pinion ? Did you get hardened gears?
