Unhappy 96 Evo Transfer case

Okay so i just replaced my rear diff thinking it was the problem cause the rear end was vibrating and starting to lock up, and after replacing it the problem is the same and is getting worse. So the only thing left is the transfer so i spun it without the diff hooked up and it seems to miss or slip like it is missing something. I just wanted to know if anybody has had this problem. thanks.

drop the oil in the transfer and check it for metal filings.
if it's the "death whine" the top of the crown teeth will be burred so much they will have a sharp edge on them.
Take the top plate (4x10mm bolts) to check that.

I never heard any whining I bought it from a friend thinking it was just the rear, but I will check.
