best/safe boost without a tune?

i got evo ix with basic bolts
(TBE, upper and lower IC pipings, Injen FMIC upgrade, and stock intake pipe with K&N cone filter, Forge Recirculated BOV)

i got a BLITZ SBC SPEC R that i got from my s14 along time ago thats just been sitting here waiting for me to install it after i sold the s14 and got the evo.

i was reading up on the forums and most ppl wont turn up the boost w/o a tune?

i was wondering and my questions are :

.has anyone ever boost up their car without a tune b4?
- if so how did it turn out?
.how long did it last?
.are you still running it without a tune?

lastly and most importantly whats the max i can run it safely without a tune?

im not tight on budget but i really dont wanna get it tuned unless i have to.
i just really dont have the time. and i just wanna make my car a lil faster in the streets.
plus tuning takes a whole day and installing this Blitz BC will take me 2hrs max . i also have Defi boost gauge to safely monitor the boost.

please dont **** on me for not searching, ive tried but this site isnt too good with the search engine.

any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
i would really appreciate all of your guys criticism even if its good or bad .

SEARCH in the tech forums next time, but i wouldn't turn up your boost at all if you aren't tuning it. they say you can run at 21psi safely, but like i said just get it tuned you get better mpg if you don't drive like a tool, and its much much safer.

its not about what boost lvl u can safely turn up to... every car's different depending on the mods each car has on it. its not safe to turn up boost w/o tune because u still need to adjust a/f, timing, fuel, etc etc to make sure car's running steady. so there is no safe lvl to turn the boost up to w/o a tune.

To the OP: There's a reason we generally don't turn up the boost without a tune. Getting your car tuned will make more of a difference in power than just upping the boost, and will make sure the car is running safely. Just upping the boost won't do that for you. The the time to do it right the first time, or you may be doing it over again on a new motor...

i wouldnt touch the boost without a tune plus tuning makes the car so much more drivable and enjoyable let alone safe. its definately worth taking the time to do.

then what would you guys reccomend me to get next b4 the tune? HP goal is 350whp to 400whp nothing major.

can i get the FIC 750cc's w/o a high flow rail and adjustable FPR? and which is better? walbro fuel pump or deatchwerks fuel pump??

oh and i already have SPEC STG 2 clutch. so clutch wont be a problem for now at least...

(my background is all nissans and SR20's. so now that im dealing with a more expensive car with more electronics its a great learning experience.)
thanks for all the help from EVOM members so far. everything i was told was taken into consideration. and i really appreciate all the help!

dont waste the money on a fuel rail or adjustable fpr, a walbro will work just fine for your goals. also, no matter what you will not be able to install injectors and drive the car without a tune. i would pick up a set that is 1000cc minimum

As long as you get a tune you should be perfectly fine with 1000 cc injectors or bigger. I run 1050s and was actually getting better fuel milage after my tune than I was on the stockers. Also picked up about 40 hp.

fic 750cc would do the trick but you probably should just go with 1050cc fic to have leg room. if you need injectors pm me.

fuel rail isnt needed, the stock one flows just fine.

adjustable FPR isnt needed either when you upgrade to a bigger fuel pump on the evo... reason being, the evo has a relay that kicks in high and low voltage, so you can idle on a walbro 255 without overrunning the fpr. no need for a rewire kit like the dsm either, because the fuel pump in high volt mode is more then sufficient.

pretty much id do:

FMIC = you already have
ic piping = you already have
bov = you already have
3" tbe = you already have (i think/hope)

injectors & fuel pump
cams ( gsc 2, kelford, cosworth, etc)
and a good tune
wideband o2 - for piece of mind when driving.

exactly. as long as the injectors are scaled properly and the fuel trims are working properly you will get the same if not better MPG.
