weird clutch noise!!! any suggestions???

Hey guys I just got a Shep tranny stage 2 rebuild a few months back with a stage 1 exedy clutch kit. Had problems putting the car into gear but not myself or anyone I took the car too could find the problem, reputable people I might add. Well after 1000 mile that clutch literally exploded and shattered. When we first checked the car it would make like a rubbing sound when the clutch pedal was not pressed down assuming it was cuz of the exploded clutch. Well $1400 later I bought a "custom" clutchmasters stage 4 clutch and flywheel kit. Car shifts perfect and clutch feels awesome but that stupid noise is still there, again, only when the clutch pedal is not pushed down so whether the car is in gear and moving the noise is there but instantly stood once I push in the clutch pedal.anyways I have read a lot about weird noises and I should be worried or not worry at all and I just don't know what to do or what it could be. The only thing I can think of is clutch disc and pressure plate rubbing or something like that cuz the sound stops once the clutch pedal is pressed in like I already said. Any suggestions help!!! Thanks

Could be clutch chatter? Mine makes the same sound with my exedy clutch. I haven't had any problems yet so im under the assumption its chatter from being an aftermarket clutch.

Sounds like a bad tob...throw out bearing...did you change it when you put in the new clutch?

Really? Wow that's crazy! Can other people who look at this post if there clutch/tranny make noise also? Let know if you have a Shep tranny build or any tranny build as well as aftermarket clutch. Please and thanks

I think its normal, since mine does the same like everyone else that has chatter. Wouldn't hurt to get it checked out by your guy though. I'm curious.

Hey guys havent been on in a while to re post but I called Shep and got the guy who put it in to check. Shep said it was normal with staged clutches and built trannies. I was there when the guy checked it and basically its the part of the pressure plate closest to the bell housing is rubbing the bells housing which causes the the noise and and minor vibrations so long story short its normal because of how heavy duty staged clutches are. I can say its fine cuz I raced a tt supra and it helded fine plus today just took it to get re tuned today with a new setup!
