Short block replacement
Short block replacement
Hi I need help, I just purchased a short block from a member here who purchased it from Jesseb. So i'm the 3rd owner, the guy I bought it from never used it. I recently spun a bearing on my stock block so I purchased this new stock block to replace my broken one. My question is, what else should I buy to make this short block swap happen? I'm going to purchase a gasket kit and I have a 60K timing kit that I had replaced on my original block 5K ago. Do I need to buy a whole new timing kit? The timing kit included the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and the bearing and pulleys. I was thinking of just swapping all my parts onto this new block and thats it. Any input would help.
Thanks.
Thanks.
may as well do all new timing components
oil cooler and oil cooler line must be replaced
oil pan must be hot tanked and thoroughly cleaned
turbo must be inspected for bearing shavings
turbo feedline and return line must be inspected for bearing shavings
head must be inspected for bearing shavings
need new oil pickup tube
need to get a full engine gasket kit from mitsubishi
recommended you get a new frontcase with oil pump
recommended you inspect the oil filter housing ( no need to replace this although i did anyways)
i think thats everythings.. little ends and odds. good luck and enjoy the finished project.
use the OEM headgasket that comes in the gasket kit and also get some ARP studs also.
and Lucas assembly lube is your friend.. along with a new torque wrench that you can trust for both 1/2 and 3/4 socket.
