I will be doing a build on my 05 5 speed. I will be looking at, 5 to 600 hp(hopefully) (;

Anyway how much can the stock tranny hold before it blows? Anything I can do to beef it up? What do you guys recommend?

On this page TRE has a list of DSM/EVO transmissions and their respective torque ratings.

If your going to make more than 350tq, you should start saving up to beef up the trans and TC. Reliability will increase drastically. With the OEM specs its just be a matter of time before something fails.

I've ran all of my times in my signature on a stock transmission/tcase. The transmission and tcase break more often do to bad driving then to being over powered.

I just stopped worrying about my stock 6 speed tranny. If it breaks i will upgrade to 5 speed.
still shifts like butter, I guess I just got the retarded version of the 6 speed.
Going on 80K miles and 480TQ...
Oh BTW I do change fluid every 8K miles with OEM diaqueen only.

Agreed! I'm running 750whp with stock VIII tranny and IX tcase. The IX tcases are stonger than the VIII due to the ACD, unless you have an 05 with ACD.

Exactly.

Although material does have it's limits, the person slamming the shifter and clutch pedal around ultimately can decide the longevity of any drivetrain/motor.
