Uh oh!

Well I suppose I will start from the begining. So a couple days ago I get a frantic call from my wife. As she tells it she was sitting on a very steep hill at a traffic light. Apparently som jack*ss was right up on her bumper. So light turns green and she freaks out revs quite a bit in order to prevent rolling backwards and slipps the sh*t out of the clutch. To her account the was a *WHOLE LOT* of white smoke coming from hood vents and terrible clutch smell.

Hearing this I rush home and open the garage an hour later. Much to my amazement the car still smelled like clutch quite a bit. So upon realizing this I let the car cool down for a couple hours. I then took the car out to test for slippage.

The car did seemed to drive just as before. I did a couple low gear pulls and nothing. Even a few high gear pulls on the highway and no slipping occured. Every gear seemed to engage just as well as before, and the clutch pressure seems the same.

This whole situation really sucks because the clutch has less than 1k miles on it. (ACT heavy duty pressure plate with streetlight flywheel)

So I guess the question is how much damage was really done? It seems to drive fine for now, but home much life did she take off the clutch? Could the flywheel have warped? Could I need a new clutch ALREADY?

Sorry for the rant I'm just really twerked about the whole situation. Another 1,500 for clutch and install this soon just makes me want to vomit.

You're probably fine. The smell doesn't go away quickly.

I wouldn't worry about it.

If you don't feel anything, it should be fine.

This is one of the reasons I don't let anyone drive my car.

Thanks, I dont let her drive the evo very often because of the very stiff clutch and 400whp. The old wrx she was fine with but it was way less tempermental. It was a nice day and she wanted to take a cruise so I figured why not. Im still freaking out though, all I can see everytime I close my eyes is this cloud of white smoke pouring out of my hood vents. It makes me sick to my stomach.

I know the feeling of white smoke coming through the vents. I just finished a vta dump and manifold swap and all the pb blaster and oil from the turbo on my exhaust scared me. Ur clutch should be fine if everything feels normal, and of course it did take life off it however everytime the clutch is engaged life is taken away from it. Slipping the clutch once or twic like that accidentally shouldn hurt it that much.

Ha after a quick freak out thats exactly what I told her. I was like, well at least its broken in now...

One thing that does bother me though is it did through a check engine light directly after. I'm going to pull it tomorrow and see what the deal is.

Lesson learned, never ever let your wife drive that car. Especially with parts that aren't broken in.

do the 5th or 6th gear test.

If you put in the highest gear u have and u slowly let out the clutch

If she stalls right away the clutch is still good

If it does not then sorry for your luck and dont let ur gf or anyone drive ur car

good luck

The real question here is why are you letting your GF drive your evo?
