Question High compression inner rings!

I'm not sure what they are called, special rings that are fitted on the bottom of cylinder heads, so they require a larger bored head gasket, (1 ring per each cylinder), their purpose is to prevent head gasket failure in high compression engines. They are found in some Diesel engines & in some Hondas. A while back I heard that someone had implemented such solution for a high compression 4G63.

Anybody got a clue what are they & where to find such a thing?

Your talking about o-ringing a block or head?

Plenty of shops due that with either stainless or copper wire inlayed into the block/head. This is something machine shops cut into the block its not something you "order" per say.

Yes, that' it! Thanks
Normally, would both block & head get o-ringed or just one of them? Does o-ringing require a special or modified head gasket?

Is there any guide or posts/threads that describe in details how o-ringing is done? I need to do it myself because I don't have any specialized shops nearby! I could practice it first on some busted blocks/heads that I have!

You ask the impossible the only tool accurate enough for this job is a big mill or lathe and i'm positive you don't have access to one. Not to mention it takes some skill with the machine to center it on the head or block.

Take your head to a machine shop and get them to o-ring it for you if that's what you want. You only do one side block or head and usually a thin wire like stainless is used to provide extra sealing power.

I have access to a lathe with a very experienced dude, I've never seen o-ringing done before & I need some pointers/tips on how it's done, like the optimal location & size of the groove. I could do a couple practice runs on damaged heads/blocks. Also, do I need to modify the head gasket?
I really need to do this since I'm rebuilding the engine for a GT950 kit (35psi boost).

Not trying to be an *** but if your machinist friend can't figure it out I seriously would go to some other machinist...

I have a hard time believing this is the only machine shop in the area..
