o2 dump

im currently running a 70mm o2 housing and was wondering if i would see any gains from a o2 housing with an external dump. i met a local evo guy with one and it sounded awesome. my buddy has one on his sti and he said it made a difference. only issue is i cant find a 70mm with a dump. i just wanted to know if there was any advantage to having one.

Alot less chance of boost creep which I doubt u have any issues with that on a 70mm o2. I installed mine and had a megan racing one on before and couldn tell a difference. Maybe a little bit more control with the boost response and alot more noise which I like but that's it.

70mm=2.75". Yeah you might see a difference if you went to a true 3" O2. The ID of the dump tube itself is a factor as well.

I had a shearer o2 dump, and they are just a noisemaker imo. I prefer my quieter Megan o2 housing that works just as good if not better.

o2 dumps are mostly noise makers lol. I bought the o2 eliminator downpipe from MAP, which has an external dump. I switched from a 9.8th to a ported 10.5th on my 8 turbo, and added the MAP pipe and gained about 20 peak whp and a bunch of midrange meat under the tq and power curves. This was with tuning and raising boost 1psi or so....so take that as you will. It is a true 3" pipe right from the turbine outlet, back.

MAP released this dyno testing for the o2 eliminator. It made power over an aftermarket o2 housing and dp...on a 2.4L FPblack car tho...so again, take that as you will

Product link....all in all, its a great piece. I do believe it will make power over a 2-piece setup that doesnt utilize a 3" o2 housing.

Yog, thats the piece I'm getting... called up MAP and chatted with Nate... really cool dude, answered all of my questions very pleasantly. I'll have a new dyno in a bit with their ported exhaust mani and the o2 elim downpipe over my current setup. That will give some numbers for a stock block, 93 octane car.

i have the same dp but with the external wastegate setup (whenever i decide to buy an ex wg). but the dp is great. it looks unbelievable, it performs great. i had a megan o2 and apexi dp. i honestly didnt feel any power gains from swapping it but that might be because i know i need a retune. but then again im not the kind of person that can feel a 10whp difference. dyno numbers are a different story. it was def worth the money IMO. and the sound of the dump is awesome!!!

I'm sure your BBK Full will have some nice gains from that setup...

I have a MAP o2 dump and I don't think it helps power-wise. My car made 376 whp on CBRD's dyno. another car with pretty much identical mods made 425 with a cheap eBay o2 housing on the same dyno (but on a colder day). Chad told me they don't recommend dumps.

The noise isn't that great after a while either so I'm swapping mine for an Invidia o2 housing.

Nice...I remember reading your dyno results last week. You still had the stock o2 housing on for those results, correct? You will see more dramatic results for sure...you're gonna love it!

Yeah, 2.5'' downpipe, stock exhaust mani, and stock o2 housing... I'm sure I'll pick up some power removing those bottlenecks... also if I can reduce backpressure/heat it will help the car out on the track.

The only question is if I wait until after next month's two day track event or try and get it all installed/tuned before then. ...and if my wife will murder me for buying more crap......

Good luck installing that 02 housing...probably need to pull the turbo...I used to have a MAP 02 dump but it was so close to my AC compressor and it would hit it giving me false knock...The dump tube was tiny too...Fitment & dump tube routing is much better with my Toxicfab dump...the dump tube is much larger too...

Hmm, I had heard good things about the Toxicfab dump as well, but didn't see as much information about it. Does Toxicfab offer a downpipe/o2 dump combination like the MAP o2 delete? I really don't like the idea of having the dump hitting my AC compressor... I want to do an AC delete, but because the car still sees a lot of street driving my wife is adamant about keeping the AC. Something along the lines of "if you take the AC out, you can have fun driving by yourself because I won't ride in it..."

Which is kind of funny considering I've turned on the AC in the car like... 3 times in the last year+

No, Collin only makes an 02 housing, not an 02 housing/downpipe combo...I think MAP routes the dump tube slightly different with their 02 housing/downpipe combo so it shouldn't be close to the AC compressor and hopefully you shouldn't have any issues...
