4G63 does anyone know what it stand for??? why 4 why G?? Why63?

4=4cyl. i dunno what the g63 stands for

the 3000gt has the 6g74 engine, 6 meaning 6 cylinder. im thinking that the g is just universally used in the name of mitsu engines, just like the B is used in honda engines

I believe that the G is just the number they chose for this specific block(just like honda). If you notice every one of motors listed were built in the same time frame and probably all use the same basic block design. And the 63 is somehow related to displacement because the turbo mirage(91s) have a 4G61 and its a 1.6 liter version of the same motor the first gens have(4G63 turbo). They also sport a smaller 13b turbo versus the 14b found in the eclipses. I hope that helps somewhat.

that sounds right... cuz then u have the 4g64 which is a 2.4L found in 2G Spyders

6G72 in the new eclipses... i think it's the same code as the 3000GT VR4 as well

the 4G64 is also in the 3rd (2000+) generation RS and GS eclipses, i used to have one...
