Kelford 272s and Supertech dual springs?

I'm just about to install my Kelford 272 cams and I have Supertech dual springs and retainers to go along with them. But on the sheet that came with the cams it says with heavy duty dual springs to just use the outer spring only. What is the purpose of this and will using the Supertech dual springs and retainers affect the cams? Thanks for your imput.

Those springs are designed to be used and a dual spring set, just use both springs.

I run Kelford 272s with Supertech duals ... revs out to 9100+ no problem.

I was going to install Supertech dual-valve spring and retainers but decided not to. The main reason why is because I am still on stock turbo so what is the need to put them on at the moment? I have Kelford 272s and they CAN cause valve float BUT it's all in the tuner. As long as you keep the revs below 7500 you will be fine with stock valve-springs and retainers. I have had these cams for ~30,000 miles, 27psi, 7500 rev limit and the car still pulls strong.

I'm not sure I understand that statement. Would you care to elaborate?

Yeah sure no problem man. From what I have been told by my tuner, as long as you keep the revs limited on the Kelfords you can prevent valve float on the stock valve-springs and retainers. For example, if you have your tuner limit your revs to 7500 then you should be okay with the stock springs. Problems arise, in my opinion, when you rev past that safe zone on the stock springs.

I don't suppose said tuner would warranty the tune and install against valve float, would they?

IMO, running a higher-than-stock lift cam like the Kelford 272 on stock springs is definitely taking a gamble. Personally I would never do it ... hence the Supertech dual springs in my car. If I was planning on keeping the revs at ~8000 RPM, I'd probably go with the Supertech singles instead of duals.

Yeah I completely understand the risks. It's like a ticking time bomb. I daily drive mine and beat the **** out of it and I have yet to experience an issue. I guess I should go knock on wood huh...lol
