cam selection
cam selection
I have searched through the various threads before, but i cannot find an answer to which set of cams would be better for an evo 9 or fp green setup on an Evo 8, Kelford 272s or Hks 272s. I know with a larger turbo the kelfords are the way to go, but for now I want to hear some opinions. Thanks
Im currently in the process of building the motor. I jsut got the head back and I ran all crower valvetrain (valves, springs, and retainers) Ill be running the 9 turbo till i send it in for the red.

I would just go with kels. If you have already upgraded your valvetrain might as well. The hks 272 are not too bad, they are fine for say a dd not really looking to go all out. They are milder than the kels. They give you a bit more power over stock and they sound real nice at idle. But if I were you I would grab the kels. You obviously want more power because you sent out for a red. Go with kels, you will see better numbers both in power and time.
Food for thought. I just switched from a red on hks 272s in an 8 to a built 2.3 9 on a black. I ordered a set of fp4rs and am really looking forward to these cams. If I had to start over with the 8 I would have bought the fps to begin with on the 8.
