Are they aftermarket Piston or stock. How bigs the bore
Cheap fix or brand new ? off the bat they sound a bit big
Rule of thumb for any petrol engine is 0.003" to every inch of bore.
85mm/25.4= 3.346"
3.346"*0.003"= 0.010"ish

Your limit being 1mm/0.040" says your within in spec's( I don't like the sound of a 1mm gap but think about what its doing and you could get over it , I guess)
All this is if your running stock pistons if aftermarket check the sheet with your piston etc.

Straight out of the book: if your running stock pistons and rings with standard boost
Standard value:
No. 1 ring 0.25 – 0.35 mm / 0.010" to 0.013"
No. 2 ring 0.40 – 0.55 mm / 0.0155" to 0.21"
Oil ring 0.10 – 0.40 mm
Limit:
No. 1, No. 2 ring 0.8 mm
Oil ring 1.0 mm
If you are running aftermarket pistons boost and application comes into play, 850hp+ I personally go about 0.017-19" top, a little bigger or tighter (depending) 2nd and neutral for O-ring

those are way too big. i run a .017 on my top and .019 on my mid ring. This is on a 1000hp motor so its built pretty loose. if this is more of a DD car with less than 500hp i'd shoot for a .016 top and a .018 on the the mid ring.
