What do you mean by "it drying up" ?

Well if your having break up issues, start with checking the simple things.

-Inspect spark plugs are for an Evo 8 head.
-Make sure its not some cheap brand.
-Make sure they are not fouled
-Double check gap is within correct range for your application (.022 to .024 for your boost level)

Research on which spark plugs are recommended for Evo 8. If all is correct then its probably your coils going out.

Was it tuned before you got it? Is there a manual boost controller on it? There are a lot of things than can cause your problem. Also check the spark plugs like the guys suggested.
