CBRD- Something unsual inside-

Well, we are exploiting our fabrication services on this one-

This is a project for our dear friend George whose been a client of ours since shortly after we opened-

his car went from street/show (after coming here from another shop) to a weekend track and daily driver car... and now to a track car... which may sporadically be used to get groceries-

we wanted to do something radical, and bring some of the technology used in our old LMP days back to the street...

so here it is:

Basics of the Build-

CBRD 2.0 RB block
CBRD head inconel valves, Ti retainers etc... porting
S2 cams, AMS oil pan
CBRD voltex kit (nut serted removable etc)
CBRD Spec Moton 2 ways... Stoptechs etc...
CBRD Seat rails (no sliders)...
CBRD Custom 3" Exhaust- all vbanded
CBRD Custom dual pass radiator, piping, Intercooler (garrett core), Shrouding etc...

but the coolest part---

this manifold

4-1 Long runner tube manifold- for those of you that will say it looks like late 80's F1 where the cars were 1.X liters making over 1200 hp, you are right..... also like previous generation Indy Turbo V8 manifolds---

We have a custom turbo we have never done before with Blouch, custom housings, etc....

Here is the manifold-

Gussets for support- and turbo will be held by braces to the block-

Slip Fit 4-1 Collector

The Block

Intercooler setup

Other details are-

Tial Vband Housing (was going to be EFR, but we didnt have a delivery date on the turbo, so we will try this later)

Turbosmart WG-

Still on stock ecu and MAF (we have made 597whp on 93 like this).... later may get Standalone-

Thanks for looking, more pics coming!

Cheers

CB

Awesome. What specifically is gained by such long tubes? Low mid or top end HP, and what about tq? Jw...

there are different opinions on this- and its something that we are purposely re-examining ourselves-

generally we will loose a little bit of response- but we will extend our curve everywhere-

the turbo is a VERY custom one off, not even as big as a 35R- on either side- but overly efficient in the pressure range we will run it in.

I may test a custom billet 86mm on it though, just for fun, 650whp on stock maf and ecu on 93 would be fun

STM nz (http://www.speedtechnz.com/) found this:

We have found that with very large turbos, the turbine inlet pressure is reduced to the point where the whole engine starts behaving more like a naturally aspirated engine. In this instance there are very real gains to be had with using a long runner manifold.

As seen on DS9 which currently holds the late model Evo ET record.

bad *** Chad! Any pics of these seat rails? I've been looking for a setup in my evo. I have SPG's on Bride rails, but with any sliding rail there is that couple mm of give and would rather it be solid mounted. Also I'd like to get the seat lower and further back. The evo makes me feel like I'm driving a truck in comparison to my honda.

Chad, the bellow you have used for the wastegate piping...
Is that a normal flexy that you've chopped the braid off?
Or an actual product that comes like that? It's nice to see companies fabricate proper wastegate merge pipe angles!

i should have said Seat Bases- because we weld them in- we dont like sliders in track cars, plus we moved the driver's seat down about 5"...

for the flex bellow, its made purposely for this usage!

as is everything here, it was a collaboration of everyone with runner designs etc... Brent is the man that brings the ideas to reality!!!

he does a great job! this one he really made into what I had envisioned in my head

the intake and piping should be exciting too!
