Really weird noise from passenger side of the engine

It makes this terrible noise as soon as the car is started (evolution 8). I just installed the power steering pump but it seems like everything is tight on it.

It sounds kind of like this. But that isn't my car. I would take a video of my own but I am afraid to run the car.

Pull the top timing cover off and inspect the timing belt.

I wouldn't be driving a car that sounds like that.

Top cover is off, the time belt seems fine.

I wouln't keep it cranked for that long with that noise either. Take it apart and look for rubbing marks.

Problem found, and again the video isn't from my car it is just another evo with the same issue or same sound rather. I turned mine off and didn't start it back until after I looked everything over well.

Issue: 3 of the bolts holding on the water pump came loose and fell out. But I shut it off before any damage occurred. I have replaced them with oems and now it purrs again.

Thanks for the help!

The 3 bolts holding the water pump fully came out? If so wouldnt it have pissed out coolant everywhere and have no timing belt tension? but good to hear its fixed

The timing belt has no affect on the water pump. Its driven by the accessory belt. Also, if its the original water pump, you can probably take all of the bolts off and the damn thing won't come loose until you wack it with a rubber hammer.

You're lucky the bolts didn't get lodged onto the timing system.

That is what I said. I found one of them on the down beside the engine.

It didn't seem to leak any coolant, at least not enough for me to notice while under it. Which is strange, but I guess you are right about the original being on there mega tight.
