Problem with rebuilt engine...

hello guys!!!

Recently I started to tune my car with some new mods (FP Black, kelford cams, ported head, etc) in my new rebuilt engine: Wiseco Pistons, eagle rods, acl race bearings, cometic head gasket, all standar.

the engine started to behave well, but I suddenly pulled out the bayonet (where you check the oil level). I removed it by changing the gasket from the the bayonet and all normal. Now I'm reving the engine to 7500 rpm and took out the bayonet again. The rare thing is throwing out a little oil. almost nothing. the engine does not consume oil, compressions engine are 150 (COLD) in the four cylinders. the other thing, the most important for me, that the engine is not delivering the power that we have. The motor feels good, but the power is not what we expected according to our dataloggs!!

what do you think about that??' new motor hehehehe

Compression is good, and you're logging, correct?

What do the logs show? How long ago was the engine built? When was your last oil change?

Well, the engine is completly new. Maybe have less than 1,000 miles. The last oil change was three weeks ago. I use Valvoline VR1, is the only one that I can get in my country that recomend FP.

About the logs, logs all it´s ok, but no power in there.

Same issue with mine. Freshly built 2.3 with a fp black. Car made more power at 15psi then 20psi. Motor only has 500 miles on it. Right now it is torn apart to see what is going on. Compression for me is also perfect. Logs are perfect as well.

Well, let me know when you have notice about your engine.. I think maybe my car is floating valves??? I don´t know! I have kelford cams 272 with stock retainers and springs. i did not buy the springs because Evo 4 are diferent to evo 8 springs, and I read that Evo 4 springs are stronger than Evo 8 springs.. So, right know i´m reving the car to 7500 rpm I don´t think thar revs are too much!

Mauricio check your fuel pump? Oil pump?

Obviously something is wrong when the engine is under more stress.

2 things were wrong...

1. Leaking BOV. Would only hold 15psi
2. 2 ACL Race main bearings were broken(cylinder 2). Only had 400 miles on them. The rest looked brand new still.

Hello Sparky.. We start with 18 psi and log and log until 25 psi. Right now we stop because we need to make that changes. With 25 psi the car feel great but the power according to datalogs is low (evo 4 is lighter than evo 8)...Sometimes, when I make three loggs the power level down considerably and I see a lot of knock. according to my tuner, this can be intercooller problem.

The porpuse of us to leave it with 28 psi as our octane gasoline is bad (89-90 oct). Remember I have alky.
