precision 6262 ball bearing question?
precision 6262 ball bearing question?
i was thinking of buying a used precision 6262 ball bearing turbo with anti surge but it has shaft play owner says the turbo ran great on the can no smoke but when he pulled the turbo it had in and out and side to side play. he says it has good housings just could use a center cartlige.does anyone know if they make a rebuild kit for this turbo or a center cartlige replacement i cant seem to find one.
thanks.
thanks.
Ball bearing turbos have more movement than a Journal bearing turbo. If it is not contacting the housings you are fine. DBB chras do not "wear" the same as a journal bearing turbo and when they fail it is usually in spectacular fashion.
thanks guys also hes selling it for 250 is that a good deal if its possibly bad? and he says it has in and out play. i thought in and out was really bad like it would have blown seals, i dont know much about dbb turbos thanks
I was under the impression bb turbos could not be rebuilt, and purchasing a new chra is pretty expensive as compared to buying a rebuild kit for a journal bearing. It kind of raises red flags to me if the turbo is 1500 new and he is selling it for 250 I think I would pass just my opinion
yea see i wasnt sure if you could rebuild them or not i was told you can get a canter cartrige and it will be fixed or you could rebuild the dbb and or make it journal. i emailed precision and im waiting on a reply to see if they even make a kit or not aswell.
thats a reason why i havent bought it yet casue im skeptic on if they make a kit or not cause 250 would be a steal

If you need to go through a dealer/distributor to get it rebuilt let me know.
E-mail me at sales@getpowerhouse.com and we'll take care of it.
Why not send the turbo into Precision for an inspection? Maybe that isn't doable until you purchase it though. I guess that for that low price they are selling it as is, huh?
