would you run an unported megan o2?

overview: stock turbo IX with turbo back, perrin intake, ets licp/3.5 IC, 24psi peak.

got my megan o2 with great speed/service from MAP again as usual. i had seen posts with both pisitive and negative comments regarding the finish of the interior on the megan, but its a hard deal to beat even if you have to clean it up.

i was pleased to find that the chambers were very well cleaned up and smooth.

what i was not pleased with, was the fact the the merge hole is TINY imho.

the merge hole measures (inaccurately with a tape measure since my caliper is missing) a whopping 1 inch in diameter. this worries me big time.

do people really run this without porting and not resulting in boost creep? the last thing i want to do is a o2 housing swap twice. my plan is to open the merge to ~40mm (golf ball size) as was mentioned in a few discussions i read.

any input would be greatly appreciated.

I don't really like many of the recir 02 housings... Since I have used the dumps, they are my favorite

I had the Megan on my stock IX turbo. It was okay for IX turbo but if you are going large stock frame upgrade to something better. That is a lot of air flow trying to go through the smaller megan

I always ran the megan o2 on the stock IX turbo, made good power for what it was,,, i have been watching members here port the megan and with it being a SS o2 i am not sure what are they all porting other than smoothing out the collector area.

If i had to do it all over again i would do invidia, true 3"

it appears that the divider wall can easily be ground away to open the hole vertically..

i would have been glad to run an invidia, if it fit better, and didnt cost so much for no proven better gains than the megan. im also not going for absolute max power, only replacing it at this point since i have to do an o2 sensor and its seized in the stocker.

its just surprising that that hole can really flow enough.

I ported my Megan, I felt the whole was too small. That and the transition had a large lip on it. I ground out the lip and opened the whole a little more, don't think to golf ball size though. I've never had any boost creep issues with mine.

Just open it up. Like you said, you don't want to have to do it again.

The Invidia is one of the best recirc 02 housings, if not the best

I have have ported two that have creeped, one being my own car. Afterwards the issue was resolved. It doesn't take much if you have the tools and better to do it before you slap it on and find you have boost creep issues.

I did not port mine, the walls on those are pretty thin. I never had any creeping problems, so I just left good enough alone.

The Megan seems to work just fine unported, but I went with the MAP 02 dump.

If you are thinking about porting it, you may as well do it now, the 02 housing isn't very fun to install, better to just have to do it once.

I ran a Megan o2 housing on all of my stock frame setups in my signature. Flowed enough for 133mph on an FP Red (approx. 540whp) Never experienced boost creep issues either on the stock turbo with mid 20's psi target when first installed. I really don't see what exactly people are porting on these pieces either since they are thin walled stainless steel.
