Tranny Popping into gear

I have an 05 MR 6 Speed transmission with an exedy twin disk installed

Last night I was merging onto an on ramp and went through gears 1-4 shifting at about 4000-4500 (keep in mind my peak tq is around that number) I was shifting pretty fast, but not like 1/4 mile fast.

Each time I shifted gears the transmission sounded like it was popping into gear, kind've like a kicking noise. I was making around 420whp 420wtq dynojet numbers during the time of the pull. I know a lot of people say the stock MR tranny cant handle much... but its not like I was power shifting through the gears, just normal quick shifting.

Is something wrong with my transmission? The car was completely warmed up, and the only time I've heard that kind of transmission "popping into gear" noise was on an SMG e46 m3.

It's probably the rear diff clunk. I notice I only got it when I shifted "kinda fast". That chassis is so stiff the sound is hard to pin down. If I'm right, it's absolutely nothing to worry about.

Thanks.. that sounds like it could be it. Hopefully its nothing to worry about... I just want to make sure I'm not killing the transmission.

It is something to worry about because you could be messing up your rear differentials. Upgrade your bushings to eliminate the clunking noise when hard shifting.

You're talking about rear diff bushings, right?

I might also do like the shifter base bushings and underhood shifter bushings?

^ Yes and trailing arms also.

The shifter base and underhood bushings are nice cheap mods to have.
