Does FP still offer rebuild for JB ? Or can the kit be purchased?

I just don't understand how such a popular turbo they have such poor customer service on. Not like everyone has 1800 sitting around to rebuild a turbo. You can go buy a 6266 for $800 and a manifold an be less than a black rebuild would be and be able to get that turbo rebuilt whenever u needed it!!!! I just think that they should be thinking about all their customers and making them happy and not just push all of them to the ball bearing.. Come spring when I do some other upgrades I will see how these turbos go together and see if my local turbo rebuild shop can rebuild it since Fp doesn't need/want the business!

It is not only the issue of the bearings/seals. He should also get a look at the wheels. So, if at all possible he should remove both housings first and get a look at the condition the compressor and the turbine wheels. Then, depending on whether or not the blades are damaged he can make an informed decision on whether or not to purchase that turbo.

If it turns out that the wheel(s) are damaged then he should not make the purchase. I imagine that FP doesn't sell the wheels separately either. It is quite possible that his local turbo shop can source the bearings/seals. But, if the wheels are damaged then unfortunately that would be another story.

You're saving $450 over the holiday price of a brand new one so really, it's not that bad.

A comparable MAP turbo is the EF4 and that's priced at $2000. IMHO, go for that upgrade. You're really not going to gain much switching to an EF4. It's also the cheapest route I see too. So, does $1800 still sound ridiculous?
Yes, because you can upgrade into an EF4 for like $1100 or something like that. I'll never run FP stuff. It's far too much money. Once they stop making Evo stock frame stuff and move onto bigger markets are you going to be stuck with a worthless BB turbo if it breaks?

It's just funny to me how their site says they rebuild all their turbos BUT THE Fp red and Fp black. You have to pay retail and upgrade it to ball bearing because they want more money!!! It's bull**** I think they should rebuild all their turbos that they make!

It will take a long time before they stop making stock frames since the Evo market is their biggest crowd.

And where did you get $1100? I think the EF4 upgrade is around $1480 and the FP Black upgrade to BB is $1800, not including the price of the broken FP Black. Around a $320 difference. Usually, a BB upgrade from Precision is around $500 so it really isn't that bad. Comparing the EF4 journal to FP Black BB, $500 difference between them seems normal.

But of course, it's up to the OP if he wants to go BB or stick with journal. I swear, just a couple months ago, everyone was saying the $2500 price tag on the FP turbos were worth it because BB was worth it. Now, I guess it's something different.

Wow I didn't know that they don't rebuild JB Blacks.I hope that changes because I've been a long time customer since dsm days. I've had all their turbos on my evo white, green, red and black. $2500 is retarded for a bb black. The 88mm pro mod billet turbo on my race car cost that and it blows enough for 1800hp.
