used turbos - what to do if sitting on a shelf for awhile?
when buying used turbos, is there a risk of the turbos seizing if they end up sitting around for awhile, out of the car? is there any type of "maintenance" that should be done to a sitting turbo, particularly ball bearing ones, to keep them lubricated and prevent them from seizing?
You should prime a turbo upon installation whether it's new or used. I don't know if there's a way to service/prime/maintain them while its not on a car though. I would cap off the oil and water ports while its sitting to make sure no debris gets in there.
