Alright I can't believe I'm on here typing this but I just got done installing head studs head gasket timing belt supertech springs and revolver cams On my evo8 and when I went to start it, it just keeps cranking doesn't run. It also threw a po455 code. Can someone point me in the right direction please. And also the car should idle after cam install without a tune correct???? Any help is very much appreciated

 

what cams did you put in there ?

Just a shot in the dark here but did you remember to plug in the crank sensor? I ran BC 280's and am running GSC S2's now. They both started and idled without a tune so I don't see why yours wouldn't.

 

sorry i just re read your post. Check crank sensor and cam sensor.

 

Yea it's plugged in.

 

You may have installed the cam sensor 180 degrees off if that was removed or you timing may be off.

 

I have a feeling I put the cam pos sensor in wrong I installed it a 3am but anything else u can think of will help me a lot.

 

not the sensor but what the sensor reads that is bolted to the back of the exhaust cam.

 

Yea that's what I meant to say what the the sensor reads my be wrong I'll check right now. I'm 99% sure the timing is correct I got it close as possible turned it over by hand no interference

 

Also when I was cranking it after awhile it backfired a little just once if that helps

 

Backfire can be cam position sensor off or timing to be off. check the cam sensor first it is really easy if that doesn't work go back and make sure all your timing marks line up still your belt may have skipped a tooth somewhere

 

yes check the cam sensor and out of curiosity..did you put a screwdriver in the balance shaft hole to hold it in place while you did all of this?

 

if it backfired its most likely your timing is off or something with the timing is wrong. did you match the balance shaft belt section all up with the timing marks also while you did this? and yes the car should run fine without a tune after cam install just dont get into it to hard without a tune.

 

The balance shaft or angle of the crank position sensor will not prevent the car from starting. Does your car start if you give it a little gas? My car would only start when I gave it gas and then it would shut off. I had to have my tuner come out to get it started and idle properly. Also, a p0455 is just a gross leak and has to due with emissions. Check to see if your gas cap is on all the way.
